Update

The Temple to Bodmin A30 Action Group has been extremely busy in the background these past few months. We are still very much lobbying major players in the Regional Funding Allocation (RFA2), including leaders in the new unitary Cornwall Council and the Highways Agency.

We are currently awaiting news from the Department for Transport on the review of the RFA2 programme. When this has been finalised we will know where we stand in the full programme of works. From this we will be able to ascertain to some degree of certainty how long we will be expected to wait for the dualling improvement at Temple. When this information becomes available we will then commence phase two of our campaign; to get the scheme brought forward as a matter of some urgency.

Anyone travelling on the A30 these past few weeks will have noticed the increase in the number of vehicles seen coming into and out of Cornwall. This of course is before the real holiday season starts; the severe disruption encountered does not bode well for the coming summer. Only this past week we have suffered major traffic disruption on two consecutive days when the A30 was closed due to serious traffic accidents at or close to Temple.

You will also have seen improvements made to the single carriageway section at Pounds Conce where the road markings have been improved. This is in an attempt to make it safer for all road users using the A30 in its present state.

This month the Group through their Chairman Mick Martin, have supplied evidence to the South West Regional Select Committee based in Westminster. The Committee are launching an inquiry into transport issues in the South West. A copy of our evidence can be viewed here.
